Is it wrong to buy a piece of electronics so you can use it for a couple days (like on a trip) and then give it back to the store?

Answer here

I personally don’t see much of a problem with it. Obviously if you can return it still then it is in condition good enough to be resold.

Further, the beginnings of the return policy date back to a sales tactic in the end of the 19th Century. The reason that the stores began allowing for returns was merely to make customers more likely to buy something and take it home. It was a way to get around a customer’s resistance to buying. The salesperson could say, “Don’t worry, all you have to do is bring it back if you don’t like it and you’ll get a full refund.” They weren’t doing this out of the kindness of their hearts but rather they were doing it because people would be less likely to return and item once they brought it home even if they fully intended to.

All that being said I see no problem with it morally or ethically to buy something to use for a couple days and then returning it. I am sure there are enough people out there who do just that and then end up keeping the item they never intended to keep.
