Yes, I Dan Levy of the LevyNewsNetwork am organizing and hosting this Toronto Social Media Meetup. So come one, come all, for an awesome time!
Can social media be used to make the world a better place? Mashable & I believe it can. We invite you to join the Social Media for Social Good Movement by taking part in Social Good Day on September 23rd.
I have decided the Toronto event should help support the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Therefore, this event will be a “Pay What You Can” to help them in the amazing work they do.
This event will also be a GRAFFITI PARTY which means the first 100 people will get a t-shirt & a marker (if you don’t have one). Throughout the evening when you socialize with a person, write your name or twitter handle or whatever on their shirt. The person/people who met & REMEMBERS the most people and has the graffiti (and memory) to prove it at the end of the night will win! Thanks to http://www.ExcessUPS.com for making the tshirts possible!
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital.
They pioneer treatments, technologies, therapies and real-world programs that give children with disabilities the tools to participate fully in life.
Holland Bloorview has 600 inpatient admissions and 58,000 outpatient visits each year from across the province, Canada and around the world. Holland Bloorview serves children from birth to 19 years old with disabilities.
The Bloorview Research Institute conducts research focused on enhancing care, developing assistive technologies, and evaluating the barriers restricting inclusion of children with a wide range of disabilities including brain and spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy and genetic disorders.
We’re inviting you to attend this meetup to celebrate, share, educate, and engage in a discussion on how social media can be used to tackle some of the world’s social challenges and issues. What’s your solution?
To clarify a couple of things
The event will be TUESDAY, September 21 in Toronto.
About the Graffiti Party aspect:
What’s a Graffiti Party? It means the first 100 people will get a t-shirt & a marker (if you don’t already have your own). You will then have 2 hours (8pm-10pm) to socialize as part of the contest. When you meet someone, write your name or twitter handle or whatever on their shirt. The person who met & REMEMBERS the most people and has the graffiti (& memory) to prove it at the end of 2 hrs wins!
There will be other prizes as well for other things. But if I told what they were it wouldn’t be a secret!
