Scotty, I Need Warp Speed In 3 Minutes Or We’re All Dead!

Saw this picture in a Mashable article just now talking about “6 Tech Trends That Won’t Happen in 2012” and it was used to ‘illustrate’ connected cars. This picture was too cool to not share.

The full Mashable article is here: http://mashable.com/2011/12/14/tech-trends-wont-happen-in-2012/

Great job by Craigyc on Flickr taking this picture! If you are wondering how he did it he explains it as such:

A little experiment I tried out whilst driving round a friends house for the night.

Basically I just jammed my tripod into the back seats of my car and made sure it was pretty stable then set up the camera to fire off the remote! Turned out quite well I was expecting there to be alot more camera shake but it turns out the dashboard etc came out very sharp!

Also, looks sort of weird and otherworldly to someone like me because Craigyc is from England (notice how he is driving from the right hand side) which changes the whole look of the picture.

I know this is sort of a cop-out if I count this as part of the 2011 Post A Day Challenge but it is a post. Only time will tell if I will post something else within the next 21 hours. Let me know if you think it’s wrong for me to count this as a blog post in the Challenge in the comments. At the end of the day, my blog = my rules, but I am well aware I write for an audience so let me know your feelings on the matter!

I made a time-lapse using pretty much this same method on my way home from Grundy lake last year. Three hour drive with a picture taken every 30 seconds. I then put the pictures in sequence at 4 frames per second, set some music to it, and voila: http://vimeo.com/14260449
