ProTip: Carry A Lens Cleaning Cloth For Your Mobile Device’s Camera & Screen

Glasses cleaning cloth

Glasses cloths also known as lens cloths, we all have them especially those of us who wear glasses. These microfiber wonders clean smudges and fingerprints easier than any tissue, toilet paper, or your shirt. If you have a high-end pair of sunglasses they probably came with one of these. Heck, some sunglasses brands even give you a pouch for your glasses made of this material. But I keep a cloth on me pretty much always for a very different reason, my mobile device’s camera and screen.

I hate how my phone’s screen gets smudged up after a day or two of use. Read more…

Saw this picture in a Mashable article just now talking about “6 Tech Trends That Won’t Happen in 2012” and it was used to ‘illustrate’ connected cars. This picture was too cool to not share.

Great job by Craigyc on Flickr taking this picture! If you are wondering how he did it he explains it as such: Read more…

Landscapes: Volume Two Arizona & Utah Desktop Wallpapers At 1920×1080

October 14, 2011 13 comments

This is one heck of a fantastic timelapse video called Landscapes: Volume Two made by @Dustin_Farrell and hosted on Vimeo – I have embedded the full video below. I found it via my friend Chris‘ (@cbrooker) share of this Gizmodo article – Is This the Most Amazing Time Lapse Video Yet? (Spoiler: It Is). As I watched it – and you really should, ideally in HD with a nice screen & with the music on – I realized that these scenes of Arizona and Utah would make superb desktop backgrounds so I started hitting the “pause” button on the video and the “PrntScrn” button and pasting the resulting image into Paint and you have the results below. (UPDATE July 16, 2012 9:05PM: Mr Farrell commented below [direct link] that he wanted the images taken down and I have done just that right as soon as I read his comment.)

I hope Mr. Farrell and the company he works for/made this video for – Crew West Inc – don’t mind my making these wallpapers as I am not benefiting from giving them out like this and am only spreading the word of their existence. (UPDATE July 16, 2012 9:05PM: Mr Farrell does mind and as such I have removed all the images. See comment below [direct link].)

Here is a link to Dustin Farrell’s Vimeo account and below check out the video I am talking about:

Landscapes: Volume Two from Dustin Farrell on Vimeo.

I have included a slideshow of the screenshots and this is mirrored below in the clickable 4 columns of images. (UPDATE July 16, 2012 9:05PM: Removed at Mr Farrell’s request. See comment below [direct link].)

And, as I mentioned above you can check out the gallery of screenshots I took of the video and out of which I made a series of 1920×1080 desktop wallpapers. Again, I hope Mr Farrell doesn’t mind. (UPDATE July 16, 2012 9:05PM: Mr Farrell does mind and as such I have removed all the images. See comment below [direct link].)

Pictures From Around Toronto

TTC Toronto Rocket leaving Museum Station 2011-09

Tonight I am going out to do some serious Nuit Blanche-ing with a bunch of friends and I expect it to be an epic night. As such, I thought I’d do a quick post for today with just a bunch of pictures I have taken recently around Toronto that I like and wanted to share. If you want to follow the Nuit Blanche goings on on Twitter I suggest you follow the hashtag #snbTO

Do you like them? I took them all with my BlackBerry Torch which it looks like I will be replacing soon – thanks to the kind folks at Research In Motion who are going above and beyond to help me out since my device is still within warranty – as its keyboard is starting to do some strange things.
