Another Wedding Blog Post. Mazal Tov Jason – @Clone7 – & Mel!

July 17, 2011 Leave a comment

Within the whole PostADay thing I am obligated to post once a day. Tonight I was at another wedding of my friends Jason & Melanie. This is one of the first times I am at a non-Orthodox Jewish wedding which isn’t a family member and it is quite a different experience to what I’m used to!

I quite enjoyed the occasion and I am still here which is why this is such a short post. I had to also go to a birthday party at 3:30 for my friend and his 2 year old son which really killed my day and left me less time to get a real post out. I promise to do better tomorrow!

The Best Part Of A Wedding is…

Yes, it is absolutely amazing to watch the coming together of two lives in a bond of love, honor, and respect.

Yes, it is also amazing when there is an open bar.

BUT more importantly, in this wedding attendee’s opinion – dessert FTW!

It is something we all enjoy, young and old. The dessert table is also more often than not populated by junk foods that we normally wouldn’t buy or eat of our own accord. But once we are at a wedding it suddenly becomes socially acceptable to gorge ourselves on these extremely unhealthy treats. Added bonus, of course, is that there is often some really esoteric food at the dessert table(s) like the dragon fruit I got tonight. Just look at these plates of delectables. (Only one of mine which is mine, I swear!)

Mazal Tov To My Cousin Shmuel & His New Wife Becky

May 29, 2011 Leave a comment

My new cousin Becky and my niece Ella

As I mentioned in previous posts this weekend tonight is my cousin Shmuel’s wedding. His beautiful bride is a young lady name Becky who oddly enough also happens to be Shmuel’s sister Shira’s sister in law. That’s right, Shmuel is marrying his brother in law’s sister. Talk about bringing two families closer together huh?

Signs like this were made to indicate it is the second Turk-Herzig wedding

As an aside, in case you don’t know what the two words above mean in the title they are Hebrew for “good luck” and they also are used to mean “Congratulations”.

Anyhow, tonight and this weekend has been tons of fun. I got to hang out with my entire family from my mom’s side every day of this weekend, and capped it off with a beautiful and fun wedding which was complete with a really great selection of scotch.

The wedding went off without a hitch, Shmuel broke the glass under the chupa successfully with his foot – that’s the last time any Jewish man gets to put his foot down anytime in his marriage – and the whole wedding was gorgeous and a great time. (See picture above for him actually doing the glass breaking.)

One thing that did disappoint me was the bar tender pouring really good single malt scotch on ice. Way to ruin a great drink, dude. The taste master from my The Macallan post would be horrified if he found out what you were doing to fine scotch! It is my opinion that his license to pour any type of alcoholbe immediately revoked.

Hope you all had a great weekend! I know I did.
